Challenge’s Heart for Students

Letting your kid leave for college is hard. You wonder what kind of life they are going into and what kind of people are going to receive them at their university. At ESU, we want to assure you that Christian Challenge is there for your student. We are the kind of people that want to care for students practically, relationally, and spiritually.

Our heart is to see students thrive in college and thrive in life through following Jesus and growing with Him. Here’s how we do it:

  • We join the team to help your student move their belongings into the dorms at the beginning of the school year.

  • We offer rides to and from campus for our weekly large group meetings.

  • We help students to be aware of the resources they have access to in the university and the city of Emporia.

Practical Care

  • We want to get to know your student! A staff member or student leader will try to set up a one-on-one meeting with every student to get to know them!

  • Staff members are always available to schedule a meeting with your student when they need help or advice about spiritual things and life situations.

  • We purposely build a community and culture that allows students to make easy connections with their peers and foster meaningful discussions.

Relational Care

  • Every Thursday night your student can attend our large group meeting consisting of Biblical teaching, challenges for growth, student-led worship, and guided small group discussion.

  • Your student can choose from a variety of small groups led by upperclassmen throughout the week. These groups focus both on Bible study and on building deep community within the group.

  • Challenge staff helps connect students to local Christian mentors. Your student can ask a staff member about getting connected when they get to campus.
